MAHA DHAMMIKA TEMPLE BUILDING
CONSTRUCTION FUND
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
The ever increasing number of Burmese, and
people interested in Buddhism in Ontario has necessitated seeking an
alternative place to accommodate bigger communal gatherings for various
Buddhist ceremonies, events and activities.
The old monastery purchased in August 1998
located at Hopewell Avenue is no longer suitable or appropriate to hold
frequent gatherings due to an ever increasing number of devotees.
With a view to prolong Buddha Sasana, the
Temple Construction Committee and the resident Sayadaws voted to proceed with
the construction project on a one acre piece of land located at 12, High Meadow
Place.
The Burma Buddhist Association of Ontario,
Toronto, Ontario, Canada - executive committee members, the Temple
Construction Committee, under the leadership and auspices of the
Venerable Sayadaw U Panna Vamsa of Los Angeles, California,
accompanied by resident Sayadaws performed the "Ground Breaking
Ceremony" on June 23rd, 2001, Saturday at the auspicious hour of 9:30 a.m.
The ceremony was also graced by the presence of Venerable Jotika, who
happens to be in Toronto on his world tour mission.
In furtherance of the propagation of the
precious teachings of the Buddha for the benefit of all mankind, your generous
and unstinted donations are required for the successful completion of the new
"Maha Dhammika Monastery". In the years to come, the Maha Dammika
will be the focal point of the dissemination of Theravada Buddhism for North
America.
